What is BHO? – Butane Hash Oil at a Glance
In this context, BHO stands for butane hash oil. It is a highly concentrated cannabis product obtained through a special extraction process using butane gas (butane). This process, known as butane extraction, is used to extract the active components of the cannabis plant—particularly THC and other cannabinoids—from the flowers to produce a particularly potent oil.
The resulting BHO comes in various consistencies – from sticky oil to waxy substances (“wax”) to crystal-clear, splinter-like “shatter.” They all have one thing in common: an extremely high THC content, which can exceed 70% – in some cases even over 90%. This makes BHO significantly more potent than traditional cannabis flowers and very popular, especially among experienced users.
Attention during production:
Extraction with butane gas is not for amateurs. Butane is a highly flammable gas, and improper experiments in uncontrolled environments can quickly become dangerous. For this reason, the production of BHO without appropriate laboratory equipment is prohibited or strictly regulated in many countries. In professional facilities, the solvent is removed using special vacuum processes to guarantee a pure, safe end product.
How is BHO consumed?
BHO is most commonly consumed through dabbing. This involves placing the concentrate on a heated surface and directly inhaling the resulting vapor. The effects are typically very rapid and intense, so special caution and experience are required when consuming BHO.
