A molasses catcher is a practical accessory that prevents excess molasses (or syrup) from the tobacco from entering the hose or hookah. It is placed between the smoke stem and the bowl of the hookah and collects the liquid that escapes from the tobacco during smoking. This keeps the rest of the hookah, especially the water and parts of the smoke stem, clean and free of sticky residue.
