What is a bong bowl?
The bong bowl – also simply called the bowl, headpiece, or headpiece – is the part of the bong into which you fill your smoking material (e.g., cannabis, CBD flowers, or herbal blends). Without a bowl, there's no smoke – because that's where the magic begins.
What does a bong bowl look like?
In most cases, the bong bowl is cylindrical and made of glass, less commonly of metal, clay, or silicone. The bottom is narrow and tapers to a suitable cut so that the bowl fits snugly into the bong adapter or chillum.
The top is a small “bowl” in which the material lies – sometimes with a handle or recessed grip to make it easier to lift the head (e.g. for kicking).
What do you need a bong screen for?
To prevent your precious smoking material from falling through the bowl directly into the water, you use a bong screen. This is a small metal (or glass or stone) screen placed inside the bowl. It holds the material back but allows the smoke to pass through cleanly.
👉 Tip: Some heads already have an integrated glass sieve, recognizable by a small bulge or a cross inside – practical and reusable.
